Who are We?
Sickle Cell Support Services (SCSS) is a 501 (c) (3) non-profit organization incorporated to help families and individuals living with sickle cell anemia disease.
Sickle Cell Anemia is a genetic disease that imposes many limitations for individuals and families. Families and individuals who live with sickle cell anemia face many challenges.These are things that often taken for granted; food, clothing, shelter, prescription and medical care. Often individuals are not able to work, miss school and have challenges with regular life activities. We at SCSS help impact the lives of individuals living with sickle cell disease by:
1) Providing emergency assistance when needed (bill payments, prescription assistance and transportation)
2) Provide community information and referral (doctor's, specialist, community programs and services)
3) Provide social and emotional support thru support groups, monthly and yearly activities, such as enrichment camp.
4) Provide education to new families living with sickle cell.
5) Provide community education training, lay education training and support group education training.

Let me tell you Derrick’s Story: Derrick was born with Sickle Cell Anemia. By the time he was 10 years old he had two strokes. Each stroke impacted his family’s economic resources, his time away from school and his developmental process. Derrick is behind two (2) grades in school. He needs help.
Our goal is to create an environment in which the families and individuals become sustainable. One of our most effective programs is our summer enrichment camp created to teach life skills, disease management, health promotion coaching and much more.
This year's camp is June 30- July 3rd. To be a success we are in need of sponsorships and donations from area businesses and organizations. These sponsorships help kids like Derrick! Partner with a friend(s) or get your organization to help us sponsor 30 kids and 6 volunteers for camp. You can seem more about our camp online at our website.
